Named after Stalin's Russian initials, this tank was designed to take on Germany's Tiger and Panther tanks. The IS-2, equipped with a 122mm gun, was more than capable of taking on Panthers, Tigers, and fortifications. Its rear turret basket, however, was considered a shot trap.
